Elements and Performance Criteria
- Inspect the shoe or item
- Shoes or item are inspected and customer advised on repair requirements materials and costs prior to commencing shoe repair
- Job sheet is prepared and/or reviewed to ensure all requirements are included
- Appropriate method of repair determined and appropriate equipment, tools are selected, prepared and checked
- Preparation of shoe
- Prepare workstation
- Set up machine
- Machine is set up, adjusted and switched on in accordance with manufacturer instructions and workplace requirements
- Tension is set according to specifications
- Wax pot is checked
- Shoe guide is checked for correct distance
- Channel knife is checked for correct positioning for welt or veldschoen constructed shoe
- Stitch length is set and tested against required specifications
- Machine is tested for correct operations
- Perform stitching
- Identify poor machine performance
- Check and finish work
